What is House Jackal?
A House or Family is a group of people who support and care for one another as a family would and who share common values and interests. In leather that house/family usually has a power dynamic and/or some sort of power hierarchy like an actual family (parents->kids, older siblings->younger siblings, etc.) but at the end of the day they all support one another in a way that goes beyond just friendship. We operate similar to an authoritarian democracy, in that all members have a say but the head of household has the final say. Outside of that each dynamic within the family is negotiated
Notes:
● Being part of the House does not make you the House leaders submissive, but you will respect him as the House leader.
● The dynamic you wish to have with the House leader/members is open to negotiation. You will/should negotiate the power exchange/dynamics you have with all members of the house. Though there are some general expectations for the general house.
● Dependent upon the dynamic you negotiate you may vet and play with who you like and/or ask for assistance with vetting and negotiating as needed.
House Principals and Philosophy
House of Jackal is based on the four pillars – Communication, Honesty, Respect, Trust.
Communication: Open and clear communication with all members of the house.
Honesty: Be your true self, open and honest with those in the house.
Respect: Respect for each other, dynamics and rules.
Trust: Believe in those around you.
Being part of a house is like a family, if you can’t communicate, be honest, respect and trust those you want to be surrounded by then this is not for you.
Entry into the House
The house is an authoritarian democracy. To expand on that , the house leader has the final say. However on most matters such as new members applying to join, event plans, trips it is a democracy and all members get a say/vote. So entry to the house involves several steps:
1. Essay Application (Found on page 6).
2. Members vote on trial period acceptance.
3. Trial Member of the house(Timeframe can vary case by case).
4. Members vote on full membership to the house.
5. Full Member Achieved.
This is a basic outline, it’s not a hard and fast rule. If for example a person applying is already close friends and well known by the house a trial period is not as necessary.
Maintenance of House Membership
Once you are a member of the House, you are always a member until you hand in your written resignation and any regalia, unless you are dismissed from the house by its patriarch. There are however activities required to be sure all members uphold the tenets of the house.
● Attending the house events.
● House Gatherings (Play parties, house partys, dinners, munches, ect. Expected once month/every 2 months)
● House Trips/Vacations
● House Meetings
● Kink Education
All of these are in place to help members grow, gain experience as well as connect and build bonds.
House Protocol:
Guidelines/Values/Expectations for House members
Communication – In this house, communication is of great importance. Never assume anything, and there are no wrong questions. If you are concerned, confused, misunderstood, speak up. Ask questions, relay how you feel, be open and communicate freely and honestly. There is nothing one shouldn’t feel safe discussing with your fellow house members.
Dedication – Relationships require works, be it friendship, dating, or a part of a house. You have to work at it, that means attending events, communicating, working on your connection with others in the house.
Loyalty – With open communication comes sensitive details that should be held confidential. House issues and private info should never be shared with others outside of the house.
Obligations – Dedication to the house is necessary however it would be ridiculous not to acknowledge that other things and people may come before the house. It is understood and encouraged that biological family, education, professional goals/career, and significant others should and could come before the house.
Representation- It is good to remember that as a member of the House you represent the house.
